Lifeguards ensure a safe environment for people practicing watersports. Lifeguards are found on beaches and at swimming pools and perform the following tasks: supervising people who are swimming or doing watersports, warning people who have ventured too far, implementing safety protocols, rescuing people who are drowning or have had an accident, providing first aid, performing CPR, and taking preventative measures. Lifeguards are sometimes required to teach new swimmers on safety and swimming techniques.
